Another cold overcast day (as forecast). Continuing north with quite a lot of cycling beside canals. Close to German border.
Dutch cycle paths are so much better! No longer following Eurovelo routes, but heading north close to German border.
Further down the Rhine into the Netherlands, a few miles and a ferry ride from the German border.
Watching the weather forecast, interpreting the weather forecast with more optimism than anything else, a wet mucky ride.
Rain, thunderstorms and horrible weather forecasts mean that I’m sitting it all out in Großenbaum. Should improve by Sun (14th)
A lot of built-up areas, not particularly interesting or inspiring. Through Düsseldorf and further downstream along the Rhine.
Further downstream on Eurovelo 15, camping less than a couple of miles from the Köln (Cologne) Ford plant.
Continuing downstream along the Rhine on Eurovelo 15. Campsite locations dictates how long today’s ride is.
Gallery of photos of some of Koblenz and Fortress Ehrenbreitstein on the opposite bank of the Rhine overlooking the city.
Today further north to Koblenz, camping on the banks of the River Moselle, though the River Rhine is only 100m away.
Another Rhine crossing (expensive one this time), a rejected campsite and a longer ride … but with a new tent.
Ferries, headwinds, poor road and path surfaces, detours, rush hour, towns & cities all making today a slower ride.
