Weather defied weather forecasts (worse than forecast). So original plans had to be changed at the last minute.
Forecast was right about the weather, just wrong about the timing. Still, washing done and seen the town.
An enjoyable ride despite the drizzle and wind. Through Leeuwarden but otherwise along the canal cycle paths.
Headwinds and heavy showers were forecast and the forecast was right. Pretty miserable cycling weather.
On to Groningen. Definately worth visiting but the weather made it the only sensible choice (plus getting needed stuff sorted).
Surrounded by plum trees in the middle of open farmland, another Dutch “mini-camping” and without wasps.
Weather gone bad, but left knee gone good (or much better). Found a better supermarket as well!
A short way into Germany and some very variable and interesting contrasts. Maybe too early to form an opinion.
Today, I’ve not tripped up, not fallen over, no new injuries (yet). And my left knee behaved slightly better.
On the banks of the river Ijssel, full campsite but should be quiter by this evening.
A ride in two halves (a good half and a not so good half). Somebody remind Arnhem the Netherlands is meant to be flat.
Memories of tinned carrots, tinned gherkins, long overnight shifts in a distant past (and I arrived here by accudent).
